I am writing a book about how pilots changed their flying methods during WW II. One message is that many pilots hated checklists and standardization, and had to be trained to use them. Largely as a result, operational accidents were much higher in the UK and Germany than in US air forces.
Chapters cover:
American bombers in Europe
American B-29s in the Pacific
American AF pilots
US Navy in the Pacific theater
Stateside training in the US
German training and fighter pilots in the later part of the war.
British pilots, especially fighter pilots, early in the war.
