    Wheel well colours? (interior)

Excellent, Looks like US Navy planes generally had gear wells same colour as the underside. Exceptions - Helldiver and other field resprays during maintenance. If the Buffalo was originally built as a US Navy plane the ques is did the RAF respray the gear wells also? Hmmm

    p-80 V Me 262

Hey, A mate got this off some website, can't find it again though. Post WW2 tests-USAAF comparison P80 v Me262 concluding "Despite a difference in gross weight of nearly 900kg the Me262 was superior to the P80 in acceleration, speed and approx same in climb performance. The Me262 apparantly...

    Wheel well colours? (interior)

Hey guys, This is an area I always find hard to confirm. At the moment Im working on a Buffalo, have B&W photos which appear to show as the same tone as the underside.(skyblue) I've seen repro P-47 with yellow. Other aircraft with green or white Is there any consistency with particular...

Double or Single Act Air brush for a Newby?

Ok thanks guys, don't mind paying extra for a double if its worthwhile, but don't want to be put off if its tricky to use compared to single. Compressor-wise I was thinking about noise, as I might like to use it inside (in the study) Don't really want to spend too much time in the cold dingy...

Double or Single Act Air brush for a Newby?

What do you guys recommend for a first timer Double / Single action. I've heard many people recommend single action, but others say it isn't much different. What about Compressors-is a more expensive quiet hobby model worth it or just go with a cheap Bunnings job. Im thinking about getting...

    Future of kit building?

On a flipside with diecast planes being popular now maybe that they grab some new modellers..... I must admit I've started collecting diecast. Some of those Dragon / Corgi / Gemini Aces 1/72 fighters are top notch. I couldn't make it as good and by the time I add up paint costs etc I...

    Future of kit building?

IMHO it will never be as popular as when I was a kid. Today there is so much variety for kids that it's hard for these traditional hobbies to keep up. I never had PCs , internet, playstations, gameboys, DVDs to keep me occupied as a kid. Also the Warhammer scene has poached a lot of potential...

    1940-41 RAF Dark Green?

Guys, Most ref I've seen mentions this colour as Humbrol 30. When I got this colour it didn't look right. Didn't seem to have any olive tone at all - a real stark green. I found ref in a few sites where people used Humbrol 163 as they believed it was a closer match to original. So I got this...

1940 RAF scheme - Port underside black

Thanks The kit instructions for the Buffalo (old Matchbox 1/72) say black sky blue. It looks duck egg on the box. The kit instructions for the Whirlwind (old airfix 1/72) has all blue M8?. However I have seen photos of this actual plane H-HE and it definitely has port side black. It would have...

1940 RAF scheme - Port underside black

Thanks Ahha I thought the Boomerang instructions odd, they said Humbrol 29 - Light Brown. When I looked at it in the shop it didn't look light brown to me. Ok so - black white, not black light blue. So the Buffalo upper was the same green brown as the whirlwind spitfire, hurricane...

1940 RAF scheme - Port underside black

Hey guys, some more paint scheme ques... With the early war scheme with the black port underside, what was the light colour? White - Duck egg Blue? Im specifically looking at a Whirlwind of 263 Sqn and also a Buffalo of RNZAF 488 Sqn (Singapore). Also while Im at it what humbrol colours...
