    Ian Gleeds Hurricane-Again!

Just a follow on from this, and to answer my own query :) The pitot tube post was left light (aluminium?) even though the port wing underside was painted black. The attached photo (source: Camouflage and Markings #2 BoB RAF may to december 1940 by Paul Lucas) shows newly completed Hurricanes...

    Wilhelm Bathasar's Bf109E 'Green One'

Hello all, can anyone post a photo of Balthasar's 'Green One' Emil of III/JG3 ? I have seen lots of colour profiles of this but I'm wondering what the evidence is for them as they sometimes vary. I have seen a photo of the tail with the kill bars but that's all. Any help would be appreciated :)

    Markings of II/stG 2 JU87 August 1940?

Hello All. does anyone have a reference for the markings of this unit for the Battle of Britain please? Has to be 2nd Staffel rather than the third. Was there a shield device (a cross) on the nose? many thanks!

    Ian Gleeds Hurricane-Again!

This is not another question about the colour of the nose!(BTW-it was red IMO and represented a pair of red lips 'blowing a rasberry' which fits in well with Gleed's flamboyant character). Has anyone else noticed Ian Gleeds Hurricane P2798 has the Day/night scheme on the underside? A careful...

    JG53 109 markings

from an interview with Bob Doe in 2006: ' I just didn’t have it in me to kill him. I probably should have because he was rescued by an E-boat and came back and killed more of our boys.” The Luftwaffe pilot was German Ace Hauptmann Rolf Pingel. He survived the war. After his death in the...

    JG53 109 markings

Could anyone confirm these markings are an acceptable guess for Rolf Pingels Bf109E while he was Staffelkapitan with II/JG53 in August 1940? This is a follow on to a post I made re his encounter with Bob Doe on the aviation section of this forum...

Pingel shot down into the Channel twice?

Thanks to all for the replies. If Fw. Dinger of 4/JG53 and Gefr. Schulz of 6/JG53 were the two rescued from the sea, I am wondering what happened to Pingel. Can anyone suggest another date for this incident? Its difficult to find another possibility as Doe only claimed 4 109's in August (3...
