Remains of pilot missing 18 years in Iraq found

Based out of Cecil Field in Jacksonville, FL. I had a few friends that knew him passively( In a Marine Squadron stationed there at the same time). Their overriding concern (and accompanying anger) was that he would be forgotten with the next big headline. Glad to hear there is finally some...

Rise of Flight (WW1 Flight Sim)

It's called Canvas Knights and should be a nice WWI alternative to the standard IL2 fare. It should be available at approximately the same time as the next iteration of the AAA Unified Installer. Even looking past the graphics, it's the flight model and damage model as well as the in-game...

Rise of Flight (WW1 Flight Sim)

RoF has great potential and as a flightsim enthusiast of over 20 years, I can say that this sim has the best physics, DM and FM than anything I've flown. I will also say it has the potential to be one of the best flight sims EVER. However, at this point, there are some aspects that are...

    WW1 Air-war Books for sale

I might be interested in the hardbacks. I collect them as well. I actually have a copy of Eddie Rickenbacker's Fighting Against the Flying Circus. Mine is a first edition printed in 1919 with a presentation inscription by Eddie himself in 1955. The really interesing thing about many of these...

    Best World War II Aircraft?

Wouldn't it be more effective to simply have a nominations thread then post a poll? 70 pages is intriguing, but tiresome. P-47D won teh war...after the Hurricane held the line in Britain. :p Once the Allies had a foothold in Europe, post D-Day, fighter range became less and less an...

Why Sims need an upgrade (little bit ranty)

Binjo, you should see a tremendous increase in ground detail and quality when the next-gen sims finally arrive. ViKs (one of the developers of Rise of Flight over at neoqb) said that he felt they needed to raise the ground detail bar because of the slow aircraft speeds and their close proximity...

How do you keep your speed up when climbing?

"Horizontal Stabilizer" button is only applicable in certain bombers (to use when starting bombing runs and allowing pilots the ability to use the bombsight or occupy a gunner's seat AND not worry about having to fly the aircraft. Sort of like an autopilot, but only works in some bombers...

What is the Best Beer in the World Poll

Czech beer is the best for bottled beer that can be purchased. But I make the best beer I've ever tasted. A medium IPA that I put in Imperial pint bottles for 30 days minimum. Once chilled that stuff is the stuff of dreams. When I buy beer these days, I either get Stella Artois or MGD.

How do you keep your speed up when climbing?

A couple things; First, try to start out with decent airspeed. Second, set your climb angle so as not to be too steep. Third, trim your aircraft as much as you can to limit the manual control input (also, do NOT use your flaps. They allow a steeper angle, but create more drag). In real...
