WWII US Navy cockpit intrument guage??

Got this from a friend who claimed it was a US Navy WWII instrument guage - used in several aircraft. Can anyone confirm this???? Which aircraft? Who has a Hellcat, PBY, or a really good library?????

Was one of the first I thought of, but discounted as Voss died. Truely a Great pilot, but maybe showing bad judgement from being tired. If I remember correctly the British pilots said he had several chances to disengage.

Would love to find out more of the detrails on confirming claims on the mentioned actions in this thread. I have read the US claims were some of the worst. British I believe accepted 50% of US fighter claims, and 10% of those of US bombers for planning purposes. And many said that was too...

How about Erich Rudorffer flight on 9 Feb. 1943 when he proved he had mastered Marseille's "dive-and-zoom" attack on the Lufbery defense formation. His Staffel attacked 24 B17s (301st BG), 20 P38s (1st FG), 18 P40s, and a mix of Spitfires and possibly Hurricanes attacking his airfield that...

    Greatest single pilot battles

I've been looking for such. Remember a story of a US ace being shot down by a Pete (Japanese biplane floatplanr). Remember Pete pilots shooting/raming a B17/B24 or two. One, now proven false, story of a Japenese pilot in 1945 taking on a whole squadron of Hellcats. But nothing near as...

recreation of RAF B24 air attack on Thai ship 1945

+1. Excellent work, and worth far more of our time than the new "Red Tails" movie. Congrats on beating Lucus with his $90 million budget.

Not a pilot, but this Italian rear gunner for floatplanes during WWII certainly deserves mention. An Italian air gunner Aviere Scelto Pietro Bonannini was reported as an "ace" by the Italian magazine "Aerei Nella Storia" ( n. 28, February-March 2003). Bonannini was the main gunner of a...

    Greatest single pilot battles

I read his book recently. He claimed in his book to have shot down at least one IL-2 with the 37mm cannons on his Stuka - said it just blew the IL-2 to smitherens! Just cant remember if he shot two down in that same incident or not. Know he is credited with shooting down two IL-2 though. He...

    Greatest single pilot battles

Anyone know if Hans-Ulrich Rudel shot down both of his two IL-2s in a single mission with his Stuka? That must have been something to see an obsolete Stuka carrying 37mm cannons join a flight of IL-2s and literally blast two of them out of the sky. Total balls! Always wondered how many of...

    Greatest single pilot battles

Apparently mis-stated my requirements for thread. It is not ment to be about unit actions or campaigns. Its about the individual pilot who went in alone, or as part of a flight, and whose performance would have been mind blowing to anyone observing it. Simply shooting five planes down in a...

    Greatest single pilot battles

Wondering about the greatest battles fought by an individual pilot. Dont think these should judged by victories over obsolete planes piloted by poorly trained pilots. Lets face it a Val dive bomber being flown by a kamikaze pilot, who could barely fly, was not a great challenge to an...
