    Stalingrad

As anyone have read "Voices from Stalingrad" from Jonathan Bastable ? Compilation of letters from russian and german soldiers letters available from russian archives. Fascinating and terrifying. As for the 6th Army situation it's a mix of many things. Not enough men and firepower to do what...

    Best Pacific Fighter II

Sorry for that but I feel repeating what as been said before and better than me (and my english). So, i think it was the best all around fighter / fighter bomber. Very versatile and long life after WW2. Korea, Indochina for example. But it's difficult to not think about F4F, F6F and P38 for...

    Favorite "Back-water bomber"?

I will vote for the Hudson and his brother the Ventura. But equally important was the Blenheim line even if obsolete, was there for a long period in many theaters and filed the gap.

The Best Biplane Fighter of WW2

Hard to say. Lot of affection for the Gladiator but my vote would go for the CR42. Much longer use even in nightfighting role... Crazy !

Museum sheds light on Canada's wartime effort

WW1 was the cemetery for many countries and many of them never recovered from these losses as explained by MM (this is valid for France as well). I cherish what the US did but : For many years the only reference for people living in occupied europe were these : The BBC and the RAF. Churchill...

Museum sheds light on Canada's wartime effort

Very well put. Respect. If you don't understand WW1 you don't have any clue for WW2.

Defensive armament for night bombers: was it worth it?

Hi Butters, I agree with you. Escort is the best. In daylight. With the technology of that time I don't think escort in the Steam was as effective as disruption over the german airfields. Also use of AI was prohibited above occupied europe for a certain time and many intruders were flying FB VI...

Defensive armament for night bombers: was it worth it?

BC implemented some detectors (forgot the name of it...) which was just under the tail gunner but soon enough the NJ found a way to track them. They got a device (Was it Naxos ?) which was homing to them. BC took a long time to realize this but when they did these systems were deleted...

    Hello

Hi, I found this forum through a link in HyperScale and I love it. Always fascinated by aviation and WW2 but I put it on hold for a while. Work, family, kid, etc... But now I'm back... Unfortunately all my library is stored in Paris and I live now in Los Angeles. Plenty of Museums, Air...
