I haven't posted here so far but having completed my entry for GB 67 I thought I'd pop something here that isn't doable for the current Group Builds.

A bit of a fun project......

Many modeller's were disappointed with this kit when it first appeared in 2014 as there hadn't been a new tooling of an early Spitfire for many years. Reading the initial reviews I was put off getting one due to all the inaccuracies that needed addressing. However I was tempted by this later issue of the kit with the Iron Maiden markings and figures. Time passed on and eventually the price reduced to an acceptable level for me to "invest" 😆.

Work has begun per the instructions with the seated Eddie figure.

I'm not a great figure painter but this is a for fun project!

The basic cockpit elements are in progress. Revell provide a good basic representation particularly once the figure is in situ.

That's all so far. I'll update as and when there's more to show.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers Greg 🙂

Still a bit of touch up and weathering to do. Also the side walls which are not moulded onto the fuselage have to be detailed and installed before sandwiching it between the two halves of the fuse.

For those of you not familiar with British Rock band Iron Maiden the pilot figure represents their "mascot" Eddie the 'ed who can be found on all their album covers and merchandise. The character was inspired by a grisly photograph of a shrunken head that had been attached to a tank in the Vietnam war. iron Maiden had a single off their Powerslave LP called Aces High which was written about the Battle of Britain hense the Revell kit released featuring the Eddie figures.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks fellas 🙂

A bit more done. Side walls to cockpit finished and tub ready to fit between the fuse halves. Quite a bit of work involved to reach this stage. Most of it will disappear once the fuselage is closed up.....

Thanks folks!

Moving on....

Test fitting the pod inside the fuse showed a bit of a miss match directly ahead of the IP on the fuselage seam.

I removed the receiver for the pin connection and .....

It all went together with only a little fettling. Still have seams to attend to but we are progressing smoothly. So far it's been a joyful build so much so that I'd get another one at some point with some of the after market corrections available to make a more accurate MkII.

I'm off for the weekend so probably no more progress till next week.

Thanks for looking 👍

Cheers Greg
