Hey Folks,

A first installment of my proposed series of "Battle of Leyte Gulf" aircraft builds.

The base kit is actually a 1/72 Hobbyboss FM-1 Wildcat which was converted to the FM-2 variant with pla plate and modifying the vertical tail, engine, cowling and main wings.

The tricolor scheme colors were done with Gunze Acrylics Navy Blue, Intermediate Blue and White, silver and grey paint for the chipping effect, and finished off with an oil wash and weathered with Mr Hobby pastels.

The chosen subject was a General Motors FM-2 Wildcat flown by Lt Martin Ferko, Triangle-7, VC-4, USS White Plains, June to October 1944, which was part of the allied forces ("Taffy-3") left to defend the allied liberation forces on Leyte. Philippines during WW2.

Decals and markings were from the original kit, while the drop tanks were from my spares box.

Hope you folks like it.
