The Saunders Roe Cloud was a training aircraft of the RAF. It was used to train pilots, navigators and wireless operators to fly the big flying boats. It actually left service at the beginning of 1939 but I wanted to paint it something other than silver so I decided it would be painted in wartime Coastal Command colours. I have done it as an early ASV radar trials aircraft a role actually fulfilled by a pair of Avro Anson's. It has a Yagi transmitter antenna above the cockpit with receiver antenna on the wings and the side of the engine nacelles. Both types were used with the ASV mkI and mkII.
All paint is Vallejo Air applied by brush. I know that's wrong because lots of people have told me but it works for me. The final finish is Winsor & Newton Galleria acrylic Matt varnish, a first use for me but I think it's come up well.
Vallejo colours used
71.405 BS DARK SEA GREY
71.309 DARK SLATE GREY
71.062 ALUMINIUM
71.407 SKY GREY
71.042 RLM61 DARK BROWN
71.305 INTERIOR GREY GREEN
71.315 TYRE BLACK
71.078 RLM04 YELLOW.
