2022 World Cup - Qatar

The World Cup qualifiers are in full swing. I'm not too keen on the event being held in Qatar. Simply because it will be winter here and public viewing will not be possible, or at least as fun. This is because the tournament will be held in November and December so that it is not as hot for the players. Some places are just not ideal to host a tournament like this. Then there are all the corruption and labor issues just to build stadiums for one time use.

Oh well, on the other hand, I always look forward to the World Cup, and as always will hope for a solid, exciting, and successful tournament for Germany.

USA is playing Costa Rica right now in a qualifier. Costa Rica currently leads 1:0 in the 20th minute (Costa Rica scored in the 1st minute of the game).

The playoffs will be interesting. England are in a dire situation, 5 players withdrawn from the team and they need a draw against San Marino. Or in other words club careers come before a game against one of the worst teams in world football.

I was working in Qatar when the AFC Asian cup was held in 1988. It seemed that the locals celebrated by driving up and down the sea front, firing Kalashnikovs in the air and turning their Toyota Land Cruisers on their side.
