Hi folks,
Would like to build a model of this bird P-51D 44-72427 "Man O'War"

Does anyone (Drgondog??) have any images of this bird other than the one in Aces and Wingmen Vol2

A Google search has drawn a blank...other than it was shot down by a MiG-15 during the Korean War. Mainly trying to work out the colour of the nose art,it looks quite pale....maybe yellow?....far lighter than on the next D-25 44-73144 which was red.

Also wondering about crew names if they were the same...

Longshot i know, but if you don't ask you don't get.

Cheers,
Gary in the UK

I've found his -73144 which, as you mentioned, was red, and his 44-15625, which was white lettering on an angular, red 'scroll', as well as his earlier P-51B, which was white lettering on a red 'cloud', but nothing on 44-72427. Maybe Bill can help?

As you can see the name is a different colour, different 'font' on the letter "A".The amount of kills is different too.
