Friend of mine, a gentleman I worked with, was a reserve officer in the Polish Army, and he was there.
On the first day of WW2 he was wounded, shot in the arm. It was dark and they were under cover, and he could not figure out why one of his pockets kept filling up with water. It was not water; it was his own blood.
