Hi gents
this small part was found in Normandy next to the big back panel (two threads before) and I suspect they originate from the same aircraft.
The marking is "ASS S205 1" and the stamp is "EEP 284".
Would this give a clue ?
Thanks

Hey gillescollaveri,

Is the material steel or aluminum? If it is steel then I am pretty sure the ASS S205 stands for Austenitic Stainless Steel 'S' series type 205. I do not have any idea what the 1 is for.

I don't think that part is stainless looking at the discoloration and surface scratches. Why put a material spec on an individual part while not including a part number?

Hi gents,
I don't know what material it is ,
I would be inclined to say aluminium (when I see how torn it is )
but I shall ask to the archeologist who has the part in hand. I let you know;
Cheers
Gilles

It is also a kind of aluminium but quite thick and solid. For example, we cannot stretch it, whereas we can with the pieces of the fuselage.

Hey LouAMD,

What is the thickness (it looks to be about 2mm to my eye but it is easy to misjudge from a picture) and weight?

It weighs 47 grams and it is 1-2mm thick for 14cm long.
Indeed, this other part is similar to the one that I have...
