These nasty Luft Minen B dropped in the Channel during WW 2 are still active.

During the last NATO minesweeping campaign involving France, Estonia, Germany et the Netherlands (february 5 to 15), 300 km2 have been scanned and a 850 kg LMB was detonated by the divers off the shore of Port-En-Bessin.

Up to 90 % of the mines in Manche / Northern Sea are still unaccounted for.

For the interested: shit loads of gas granates from ww1 and 2 were dumped.

There's also the area 50 miles off Southwold, Suffolk, UK which was the designated jettison area for 8th USAAF bombers 1944-45
