Yes I do. There are some more but the Computer world is my favourite.

Wojtek, I dont have the faintest idea what u posted up there... Nothing mainstream (USA) influenced u, or was Western music not available to u??

Hi Dan,

The topic is ,what the most influenced me, right? So here you are.In the Past when there was the iron curtain between the West and East and later, the Western music was almost everywhere here in Poland.Contrary to former USSR it was on the Radio and TV.In 70's and 80's the music became much more popular.Almost all Western bands or groups, as you wish, were known here.I remember Pink Floyd's The Wall and many otheres mentioned in the thread earlier aswell .But it is not music I like the most and I cannot tell these influenced me the most.

BTW Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk are from former West Germany. Jarre is from France

Wojtek,

Those are GREAT albums. I am surprised anyone else knows who Jean-Michel Jarre is. I have every CD he has done. Equinox and Redezvous are my favorites.

I also like Isao Tomita, Vangelis, and Tangerine Dream. Vangelis's Soil Festivities is a great CD.

Oh ..So there are people who know the best music of the best. Most of these mentioned by you I have still as tape records aswell.I like Vangelis too.My favourite are The Friends of Mr.Cairo and 1492.Holy crap, you know Isao Tomita aswell.Do you remeber Yellow Magic Orhestra from Japan?

No, I'm not familiar with Yellow Magic Orchestra. Sorry.

Here are the works that I had by Tomita. Sorry to say, these were on vinyl and I don't have them anymore:

Pictures at an Exhibition
The Planets
Grand Canyon
Space Walk
Dawn Chorus (Canon of the Three Stars)

Gotta agree with Matt on a lot of those, but I'd add a few . . . .

Boston - Boston (my first "real" rock 'n roll album)

Van Halen - I

Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs

Rush - Permanent Waves

Led Zeppelin - Zoso (IV)

Styx - Pieces Of Eight

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive!

Journey - Infinity

The Cars - The Cars

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

ELO - Time

Gotta agree with Matt on a lot of those, but I'd add a few . . . .

Matt's list was great!

You wacky guys and your wacky music...

I've got the whole Jarre collection too Thor
Still working on the TD collection, I only have 40 so far..
I can't believe you have Soil Festivities too, Thor!!!
{The lyrics really freaked me out }

Here are the works that I had by Tomita. Sorry to say, these were on vinyl and I don't have them anymore:

I have Grand Canyon on CD

I have a couple of YMO as well, harder to get into.

Wacky .....

It's true YMO music is very hard to find.I had some of their productions but I have lost these somewhere.
And sorry Freebird I don't have any Synergy. But I had an opportunity to listen the music. It's nice.

Oh... I have forgotten , Jarre's Magnatic Fields is an excellent album aswell and it should have been mantioned in my firts post.

Of coures Mike Oldfield's music is known to me too.

And anyone who has seen the Exorcist....

I like the "Classic" Tangerine, '73 - '87, Hyperborea, White Eagle, Exit, Green Desert, Stratosfear, Force Majeure, Riccocet. Their "Le Parc" was a great album, but the last with Franke, sadly none of the later stuff has been as good IMO.

Do you like Ash Ra Tempel too?

Wurger, are there any good Polish ambient or "Krautrock" bands? {or similar to Oldfield, Jarre, Tangerine, Ash Ra}

The "classic" TD is my favurite aswell. To all these titles I can add Thank You Poland, Tyger and Shy People. But you are right without Franke it is not the same.

Ash Ra Temple... I don't remember this one.Sorry

Concerning Polish bands there haven't been any of these so far. Most of the kind of music was performed by single musicians or composers like Marek Biliński and Mikołaj Hertel.Truly nice music.

What about Klaus Schulze?

Kraftwerk are still recording their techno version of Das Boot is not bad
Tangerine Dreams I still love
Dire Straights, Brothers in Arms ground breaking first all digital CD has to get a mention for me as when I bought my Marantz CD player it was one of only a couple of dozen cds on the shelf as the LP still ruled.
Wish you were Here was the best love making sound track in my bedroom in the 70's. sad news of Richards Wrights death on monday though.
And for a total change the 1967 recording of Jacqueline du Pré playing Elgar's Cello Concerto is the most emotionally charged piece of music I know and introduced me into classical music.
