Aw flaming stralia
I am going to slowly add my Allison manuals to the site and invite others to post their V-1710 stuff here as well so it is all in one location. It will be slow as I have started to process the Lancaster Vol 1 and that will take time as it is a bit if a mess. Avro Lancaster manuals

This first post will firstly link to other manuals already in the forum.
Allison document ALD-3F2 dated 43-04-01
That was a link to a rapidshare site that is dead however there is a copy of a book chapter called "V-1710 rebuild specs"
Allison document ALD-3F2 dated 43-04-01
Covers the C series engines
Allison document ALD-3F2 dated 43-04-01

A Russian manual on the Allison engines

I will start with this manual - as always watermarked to stop scum selling copies and as always you are free to give a copy to anyone else.

This copy is missing two pages so if anyone can post those here or PM them to me I will add them to the file. I prefer 600dpi colour scans as those make the removal of most stains and smudges etc an automatic process by the software I use. My "original" for this is a single sided photocopy from Air Service Caravan from the 70s.

Now for this one. This is from a very old photocopy done on a copier that should have been either sent back under warranty or junked if out of warranty.

From another original. An earlier version of the crappy photocopy in post #2 so this one has the colour diagrams.

And a USAAF training document, no Title page or unfortunately for this one.

Edit front cover supplied by Thomas Robert cleaned and added but not watermarked as not mine.

This is one of three more USAAF training documents that I have but I can only find two at present - will keep looking. I will also scan and post my Factory training notes from May 42. Others have posted different versions of the factory notes so I will find and link to those posts.

This document is dated March 42 so was created before the later con rods, bearings, water jackets etc. Greg P no doubt will pick up more changes because he has overhaul experience on these engines whereas I only have maintenance experience.

I do not have a date on the con rod change but the 40919 silver bearing were introduced in mid 42, the 43705 in early 43 and 44550 in mid 43.

This one has a lot of stuff on the early P-40 and long nose engines. The one I am missing is much later.

The first Allison Service School Handbook (1942-05-13). Next will be an Australian print of the same manual that is less pages but includes some of the -33 and early P-40 material in the USAAF manual above

This SLIGHTLY earlier document included many of the diagrams in the above USAAF manual but in full colour instead of being left for the student to colour in

The fifth edition of the Service School Handbook - SSH-5. As you can see the cover was filthy (and torn) and I fixed it as best I could without spending a lot of time on it.

I have two copies of this manual and they are different but the differences are to only six pages so I will post the differences and why I think they are different in my next post. Both copies are missing pages 11-1 and 11-2.

After that will be a photocopy of SSH-4. I will use the colour pages from SSH-1 and SSH-5 where they are identical and try to cut/paste colour pages that differ.

This SSH-4 was a bigger project than I expected as I had to import all the relevant colour pages from SSH-1 and 5 plus replace a number of pages where the photocopy page was skewed or missing. The cover is the photocopy colourised using a couple of web samples to provide a guide to the colours.

I have just bought an SSH-2 but I will not get it until I visit the US in December. They wanted WAY too much for postage to Aus so it has gone to a relative for safe keeping.

This one is thanks to Snautzer who found it on Ebay and notified me that it was available. First edition of unknown date but the drawings are dated 1941. The big drawings are 20"x30" which my Acrobat would not process so I ran them as A2 and trimmed one edge making them a tad oversize.

and an odd one.

Allison, like most companies of the day, had a staff suggestion scheme.

I have two examples of the form staff used to submit their suggestions. The ragged line above Please retain is where the perforated tear off line is.
