American units sept 1943

Hello, I have contacts in Italy thanks to my passion on WW2 and a friend of mine, Matteo D'Angella from Italy, was in contact with me years ago.

Reading his 2017 emails sent to me about his research on crashites of a SKG 10 FW190, a Ju 88 KG 76 and Do217 KG 100, my attention shifted to an American plane shot down at Grotaminardda. My friend told me he wrote to DPAA but since then I did not hear him no more.

Do you know how many planes USAAF lost there in September 1943?

Here's a list of MACR's from Sept. 1943. The ones marked ITA under Country are for ITALY. Sometimes there is a small description or location for the loss, but identifying that location in relation to Grotaminardda is going to be time consuming. The loss locations (if one exists) are very generic at best.

Grotaminarrda is north-east of Salerno in the Naples region.

The downed fighter may been with the 12th Air Force based out of Tunisia..
