I have a collection of fairly rare B29, Tinian and atom bomb pictures that I am restoring. I will be putting together a web slide show. They will be professionally printed and sold online.
How do we know that the second picture was taken on Tinian? Couldn't it have been taken at Los Alamos, Hanford Nuclear Reservation, Oak Ridge, or where ever they assembled these "fire crackers"?

IIRC, the bombs weren't actually assembled until after the individual components arrived at Tinian. It is entirely possible that the non-atomic components were assembled w/out the nuke. Again, IIRC, we only had enough fissile material for the two bombs.
