Bad end for a RE 2001

Bad end for RE 2001 prototype and his Pilot, Com. Scapinelli, 14th March 1941, due to a malfuncion of the propeller:

That is a terrible sight: the aircraft amongst the trees like that. Scampinelli died on his way to the hospital from his injuries.

Alfa Romeo was found to be at fault because their electric pitch control device failed, causing the prop to malfunction.
