Bombardment Wings (Prov.)

Hi,
I am looking for any clues on those Bombardment Wings (Prov.) which appeared from Spring 1943 till 13 Sept 1943 in the VIII Bomber Command, grouping Bomb. Group from 1st, 2nd and 4th Bomb. Wing.

Not sure what clues mean and this is 6 months later anyway.

The 8th Air Force Provisional Combat Bombardment Wings, PCBW from various published sources, establishment and first assigned unit dates.
17 February 1943, the 101st, 102nd, 201st and 202nd were established. The first two were under 1st Bombardment Wing, 101st PCBW taking the 91st and 306th Bombardment Groups, the 102nd PCBW taking the 92nd, 303rd and 305th BG. The second two were under 2nd BW but not assigned units at the time.

On 25 March 1943 the 201st PCBW was assigned the 44th and 93rd BG.
On 11 May 1943 the 401st and 402nd PCBW were established under the 4th BW, with the 401st assigned the 94th BG.
On 20 May 1943 the 103rd PCBW was established and assigned the 379th BG
On 6 June 1943 the 402nd PCBW was assigned the 100th group
On 23 June 1943 the 403rd PCBW was established under the 4th BW and assigned the 96th and 388th BG.
On 2 September 1943 the 202nd was finally assigned units, the 44th BG from the 201st PCBW and the 392nd BG from the 2nd BW.

On 13 September 1943 the 1st, 2nd and 4th BW became the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bombardment Divisions. The 101, 102, 103, 401, 402, 403 PCBW became the 1, 40, 41, 4, 13, 45 CBW.

On 12 September the 201st PCBW had the 93rd, 389th BG the 202nd PCBW the 44th BG, 392nd BG
On 13 September the 2nd CBW had the 389th BG, the 14th CBW the 44th and 392nd BG the 20th CBW the 93rd BG.

Your answer brings the clue, they where formed under std Bomb. Wing supervision until operational, at which time former BW were turned into Bomb. Div. Thanks a lot.
