This year's Lunken Airshow in Cincinnatti, Ohio will be a special one for Thunderbolt fans.
On September 10th and 11th, there will be a reunion of P-47's. The event is called, "Can You Hear The Thunder, A Gathering of P-47's"
I believe they are execting six or seven aircraft and some will be flying. In addition, therre will be a P-47 ace there too by the name of Walker "Bud" Mahurin. Bud finished his WWII service with an impressive 19-3/4 air to air kills in the ETO and 1 in the PTO. (He also scored 3-1/2 kills in Korea with an F-86.)
He is the inspiration for the painting below.
Sadly, there will probably never again be such an event.
