You're the second athiest I know who's actually taken a look at the issue beyond the fact that a cross is involved. A good friend at work is an athiest, too; brought this up one day, his comment was "its a memorial to war veterans, not a place of worship for one specific religion. Leave the d*mn thing where its at."
