Marine Squadron VMA 542 "Tigers" CO Maj Robert B Porter Okinawa

One of the first Marine Aces on Okinawa. I've never built an Eduard kit before so i'm looking forward to it.

In 1945 they were a night fighter squadron flying Hellcats, in Korea with Tigercats, and In Vietnam with F4 Phantoms. Robert "Bruce" Porter was one of two Marine pilots that Achieved Ace status while based at Okinawa.

Thanks, Karl, George, and Andy,

I sure hope it goes together well, it looks like a great kit in the box.

Cheers

Well, i finally got this one underway.

Nice detail out of the box in the cockpit.

The seat belts are decals, which i think look ok in this scale, especially once the canopy is in place.

So far so good, more updates shortly....

Hi Folks!

A quick update on the Hellcat...

In all its a nice kit well engineered albeit there are no locating pins as on most mainstream kits. The wings and tail planes clip in very tight and just needed a bit of Tamiya Extra thin to secure them.

So far so good....
