The Tulsamerican was the last B-24
manufactured at the Tulsa Douglass Aircraft Plant on July, 1944. The cost of the
Tulsamerican was paid for by war bonds purchased by the Douglass Plant employees.
The Tulsamerican had a crew of ten men on the fateful day of December 17, 1944. The
bomber received significant damage in battle and tried to fly back to the island of Vis, off the
coast of Croatia, but hit the water, just short of reaching the runway
