Thanks for the comments! Those land-based fighters got pretty worn down from what I can tell. I mixed up my weathering this time by painting some discolored panels on the top and bottom and also streaking some heavily thinned greys and browns over the plane. I also toned down my gun stains to a very subtle application. The hairspray technique is rather hit-or-miss for me... it's hard to predict what type of chipping I'm going to get. This time the chips were very circular and I wanted a more jagged result. I knew enough to stop instead of pushing it further because you can easily remove too much paint and that's impossible to recover from. I augmented the hairspray chipping with a silver pencil.
