Excellent work Dave :thumbright:
Allow me a question: T.J. Lynch was CO of the 39FS at this time, shouldn't there be blue markings (double blue piped stripes) on the beams of "white 10"?

Hi Steph,
I couldn't find any photos or drawings showing the Blue markings for 42-12839. Going with my interpretation that 42-12839 #10 was previously flown by Major George Prentice, I went with colors based on the profile of Prentice's #10 in Pacific Profiles Volume 9, by Michael John Claringbould. Despite the fact that I think he confused the SN of this aircraft as 42-12715, which was a G-1 and would have had the side opening canopy, he does not show the blue bands on it when Prentice flew it. It could possibly have had the blue bands on it, or Lynch could have had them painted on at a later date. But he does show the blue bands on the P-38H 42-66532. So my take is that he flew it in the same condition as when Prentice flew it, adding only his name and kill markings to it, and painting over the Double Trouble marking on the gun door with fresh olive drab.
Dave
