Thankfully flood banks kept most of the water contained - the highest flood levels ever recorded. No-one hurt, but plenty of people whiteout homes at the moment.

Thank goodness the kiwis are smarter than the Aussies. Floodbanks are rare here and would do so much good but of course the states say it is a fed problem and vice versa.

Last year the idiots in the Queensland government ripped the top off the Paradise dam (rather than fixing it BEFORE doing an engineering assessment on repair costs). That dam is less than 100km from me and now not only is the flood mitigation gone but the irrigated farms have had their water allowances cut by up to 82%. Lots of avocado and macadamia nut orchards are bulldozing their trees and a lot of the sugar cane crop has been left to die.
This area was called the foodbowl of Queensland.

Next flood is going to create absolute havoc
