I found a piece of film on the net about Allied Experimental aircraft of WW2 era.
One of the most interesting was the Flying Flapjack or XT5U or Vought V-173.
For its time a quick and agile aircraft with a decent punch.
If jets had not come along maybe this aircraft would have bee developed furher?

Could you perhaps provide a link? also the design of it was good enough to initially bounce wrecking balls off too apparently.

The first part is abot HurriCams, Hurricanes that took off from merchant ships.
About 9 mins in or so it starts to introdeuce Zimmerman and his ideas which led to the Flying Flapjack.

Yep, that Typhoon / Tempest film is well worth a watch!
I wil take my virtual pint shortly - I am busy watching a Beaufighter documentary I jusy found - posted in another thread.
