Is the French one shown with its gun in the travel position, being that far back?

Yes Jan, that's correct. The howitzer was moved back on the gun bed for the travel position. The Polish Army used the howitzer as well.

Very much so good buddy....

OK. In August 1939 The Polish Army had 340 or 341 of them. The next 36 was ordered for the year 1939/1940. The howitzer was also made in Poland under the licence by the Starachowice factory.

PS. the Polish guns were painted olive Khaki green colour.

Two years ago a team of the Polish searchers named "Misja Skarb" found a complete howitzer just in the travel position in one of the Polish rivers.

W15-713, is the W for Warsaw?

It is the military tractor-tug Bolinder-Munktell type 25. The "W" in the tug registration doesn't seem to be for 'Warsaw" but "wojskowy". In the English "military.
