Don, your scaring me. This is the same kit I am planning for this group build. We both did/doing the Tamiya P-38 on the last GB. Great minds think alike!
Okay Dave but if you're "Great Mind" is coming down to my level, well the wold could be in trouble, kinda like Pinky and the Brain! 🤣😭🤪

Well we're off to the races, or was that "A Night at the Opera", "A Day at the Races" or just "Tie Your Mother Down", Oh I'm so confused.......
First off the add ins.....

I started with the resin fuselage and engine mount.

There was just a mall bit of flash on the fuselage, bottom right side.

Cleaned up nicely with out much issue (80 grit sanding board and a medium glass sanding file (gotta love me glass files)).

still a little bit of cleanup to accomplish on the bottom.
2022-12-03_10-18-27_923.jpeg

Little bit of flash but for resin NO to shabby!

Now for the engine firewall, Oh Joy, and the rotary tool comes to play!!!

2022-12-03_10-34-00_094.jpeg

I started by sanding (more like grinding) the sides down and then grinding the back to the correct depth.

Listen, I'm not getting anything for this "plug" These MadWorks PE (Fine) saws ar the cats meow. I love them, they are slightly larger then the Tamiya but the rigidity is the rave. musch stronger and great live.... I find them on EvilBay but your LHS might have them, ask them for them and see if they can get them.

Really great work Don, resin is a pig to work with, such a messy substance and in my experience, lots of clean up or fill in required. :D

Update, Just gotta love resin.... What a mess.

I painted the cockpit with Vallejo Metal Colors Dull Aluminum and over coated it with Alclad clear to seal it.

This was done so that if I used an acrylic thinner later it would not effect the metal. I then shot it with Vallejo US Light green ( interior green). After all was dry I got out the Red Fox set to install.

Having use Quinta and Kits would I found I did not have to soak the Red fox as it peeled off the paper with ease. Using Gaiter Grip PVA I filed off the face of the kit parts and glued the red fox on. After letting it all dry I sanded down a little weatheing (on the wrong side of the fuselage floor I might add) and put the fuselage together as per the kit instructions.

2022-12-05_21-00-08_095.jpeg

I used the Kits World (B-17) seatbelt set for the seatbelts .

I did use Tamiya black wash on the cockpit floor.
After that on to step two. Wing spar, this is where the fuselage halves need to come together, I had to get the roto tool out and go to town here. The inside of the resin fuselage was too thick and needed to be brought down quite a bit. I also ended up slightly modifying the kit parts for the wing spar but it's mostly there..
