Ok, I didn't like the red cowl flash, too wide and too far forward. Easy fix, mask off the rear of the flash and re-shoot. I also noticed that the glare panel was slightly curved on both sides so I remasked and straightened them out as well. Not perfect but a lot better

Thanks guys. Went down to finish masking and prepare to spritz the NMF coat. While pondering how many coats of silver it would take to cover up the red and black, I looked down at my Vallejo paint racks and saw a bottle of Black primer. My first thought was, this will cover up both nicely. My second thought was, when the heck did I buy this. My final thought is, I have more masking than plastic showing

This primer produces a very fine finish. I've read that it should cure for 24hrs or so. So be it. I'm pretty sure there will be paint corrections as I was getting tired of masking and rushed it

Not looking to bad George and I was checking out a guy who always paints black under an aluminium coat and the final effect of aluminium looked very good.

Not sure what's going to happen Vic. The colour photo I have shows a matte finish on the fuselage. If I leave the NMF in gloss or semi-gloss, what do I do with the decals and invasion stripes? They seem to be matte and would require careful painting

Ok, I said I was going to wait 24hrs but I got bored. Spritzed the Vallejo Metal straight, no thinner. And then the masking came off. Very stoked. No bleed under or paint lift. The tape on the tail moving surfaces had been on there for several days. The only thing I'm worried about is whether I lowered the centre invasion stripes enough

As this is Vallejo paint I can't go about my usual airbrush cleaning with IPA so I took a chance and tried a new cleaner I've had booting around, Iwata Medea Airbrush Cleaner. This stuff is great, better than Vallejo's air brush cleaner. The place I deal with for my airbrush stuff sells it as well and the shipping is fairly decent.... iwata Airbrush Cleaner Paint Brush cleaner There was a few dried on spots of paint the neither would remove so I got my trusty bottle of VMS airbrush cleaner mix. This stuff removes the stubbornest dried on paint. They also sell a wide variety of hobby products like decal solutions, thinners, etc... Pro-technicals-picker | VMS VANTAGE MODELLING SOLUTIONS I'll let this sit for a day or two to let the paint set up
