The Schneider DFS 108-14 SG-38 Schulgleiter (School glider) is a German high-wing, cable-braced, single-seat primary glider that was designed by Schneider, Rehberg and Hofmann at Edmund Schneider's factory at Grunau in 1938, hence the designation. It was produced by several builders, including Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (DFS).

It was quite often the first or second glider Luftwaffe aircrew learned to fly in. I have a second kit (the "simple" version) to follow. Depending on how this one goes, I will do that as either the skeleton version (i.e. without the cockpit covers) or as the fully-open version, if I actually complete this one.

The first steps.

Boy, it's DELICATE! The plastic bends and twists under it's own weight. I hope the supporting "wires" (they don't specify the material, but I'm thinking .5mm steel or brass- I wasn't aware it wasn't included in the box, so I have to amend the description above, I guess) will help stiffen it, as per the real glider.
