Did you get to do any of the ghost tours? That whole area is supposed to be massively haunted. In fact, all the locals will tell you that if you watch the movie "Gettysburg" (excellent movie, BTW!!!), during the scene of Picket's Charge, the Confederate troops actually make it to the stone wall and engage in a little bit of hand-to-hand with Union troops, and are driven back. During the filming, there were a certain number of extras who were told to drop somewhere in the field. They did. A handful make it to the wall, fight, and retreat. During the editing of the movie, a massive wave of Confederates reach the wall and start fighting! But they weren't there in reality. The ghosts of those who died in the Charge had one last opportunity to make it to the wall, and they did.

Or so the story goes.

Thanks Guys! The actual site is really cool. When your actually there you really get the feel of what the Union was defending, why Gettysburg was important, and why Pickett's charge was a disaster.

Yes. It interests me how strategic Gettysburg was to the person who held the town. It has 10 roads (!) going into it, which means many routes for a supply train.

All of these were taken from a moving car. They are all the area of Pickett's charge and the house was a converted field hospital.
