I've just received my first model from the Shapeways guy, another Horten unbuilt design.
'The HoX was offered as part of a brief to produce a cheap fighter as the war was comin to an end.
Again,drawing and artwork from Luft46

The nylon filament used byShapeways leaves a slightly grainy feel to the surface.I initially tried sanding with some 120 grit paper but to no avail. The stuff is damned hard!So..ihad some Ronseal all purpose primer, what's to lose? Two thin coats, then I hit it with progressively finer grades of wet'n dry.Feels ok now,but next is a coat of rattle can light grey primer and more prep.

Thanks
slow progress
1coat of primer, rubbed down, then a final primer coat.Feels smooth enough now, that Ronseal did the trick.
I'm going to try to imitate the camo in the pic,at least as far as color is concerned. So waiting for paint to arrive, also some molding silicon for the canopy. This will be a solid cast of clear epoxy.

I'm going to have my first try at making a masking tape stencil.I've draw out a design, which I'll trace onto grease proof paper and then onto a sheet of masking tape. The red hatched areas are the bits that I'll use on the plane.Brush painted, but if I use a good quality tape it should be ok.

#2 Hope me hands/eyes are up to this🥴
'This one will be hand painted but if I'm going to do more I'll need an air brush.Any recommendations for a reasonably priced one?Ebay has some around the £40 mark.I'll be using acrylic paint,I'm not good with solvents

thanks,I checked that out and also did a full search.Lots of different opinions of course, but a couple of posters seemed happy with eBay purchasers so I'll go with that,

Yes. Not always these offered via the net are the worst ones. Personally I have three airbruseas bought from different sources working good so I'm please with them.

The silicon arrived,so I made a start on the canopy.Drilled at base and inserted a cocktail stick.Again,2 coats primer, rubbed down and sprayed.Sand again tomorrow and a final coat.
'Copied the camo onto grease proof(actually the shiny backed sheets from eBay invoices). No point going further till the paint turn up.

Managed to make a mold at the 2nd attempt .I didn't mix enough silicon for the first.
The other pic is my play area.Big SpaceX fan,the Falcons are 3D printed 1/72 scale.I have a guy working on a ship and booster which will eventually sit on the launch mount.
