These are simply ridiculous actions. One of the key principles of proper justice is that it treats all equally. And here we do not have that. If directing 12,000 people to their deaths is a serious crime when the victims were Jews, then one must ask that isn't killing some 40,000 civilians in one stroke at least as serious a crime (Hiroshima)? As for the Nurenberg trials, one should bear in mind that one of the prosecutors was a man who later found Lavrenti Berija a Western spy...

I understand the winner did not commit any war crimes because the loser could not judge the winner.
There was no International Court of Justice of the third party 70 years ago.

The Frankfurt trials in Germany did not charge anyone under the umbrella post war definitions such as crimes against humanity. They charged people with specific crimes, usually murder, under German law which meant that no statute of limitation was applicable, as in many other crimes committed during the war.
The men convicted were convicted of specific murders, murders that they had committed, usually on their own. If you read the transcripts some of them are pretty gruesome. Murder is a crime, whenever and wherever it is committed, period.

No German was ever charged with any crime specifically related to bombing, and there is a rather obvious reason for that.

Cheers

Steve
