Growing up my friend and I used to play in a "gun blister" in his back yard. His father (who flew recon F-5 and B-25's during the war) said it was from a Catalina.
But this blister was more solid on one side and framed on the other and from all the photos I've seen this does not fit the Catalina's blister. Which seem to be framed on the outside and no solid interior.
Does anyone have any idea what aircraft this blister could have come from?
Some pictures or links would be helpful to narrow the search down If it appears to have an armoured backing, it could be from a B-26 Maruader (usually had an armour upon the port/left side to protect the pilot from flak and blister flak/ammo damage) or B-25 both by/to Mitchel pattern.
Mind it depends upon the definition of a blister gun - Catalina style is very much different to a Maruader's/Boston's
Mud, mud, glorious mud!
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
So follow me, follow
Down to the hollow
And there let us wallow in glorious mud....
(Damn, childhood memories creep back from the grave I left them in....)
