Greetings! This is my first time EVER on one of these sites. I am putting together a scrapbook of my father's experiences in WWII.
I have in my possession a telegram from the Navy Department informing my grandparents of a plane crash that my dad was in. It occurred on 18 February 1945. From the Cruise book of the squadron (VJ-13), I believe it was probably off Guadalcanal. The incident is not mentioned in the book. I believe the Pilot was killed. The remaining crew survived.

How can I find out additional information about the crash? My brother remembers my dad talking about an "inquiry".

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the site, Judy. Hope you take the time to look around. The
folks on this site have a wealth of info, and are always willing to share, and
may even do the leg-work for you. Good luck in your quest...

Hi Judy,

Welcome to the site. I would try here, a few pdfs to download and names and such to see if your Dad's name is listed. Should help confirm the squadron including history of the squadron
