This does not appear to be "target flak" because the aircraft are to strung out. It also looks a little low to be to damaging. However, it would get your attention.Brutal looking. I can't even fathom the feeling one got travelling through it

Great 303BG flak photo B-17 Formation in Thick Flak did a fold3.com photo search for this image trying to determine when and where it was taken, Sadly it was not found.

Scott........The photo was submitted by Joseph C. Sassone, co-pilot, 359th. The photo angle could be from his position. Unable to find his exact time there but appears to be during the 12/43 - 03/44 period.Hi Bill,

A search for 2nd Lt Joseph C Sassone here 303rdBG Custom Search Results likely not an accurate mission total but finding him from mission No. 109; 20 Feb 44 to mission No. 164; 29 May 1944.
Then there is this tidbit Elmer W. Young Crew which offers a more complete time frame of his missions.
