What octane was Italian aircraft fuel during WW2 and from where were they getting it? Did they have different grades for bombers and fighters? I read somewhere that the CR.32 was using a blend of 55% petrol, 23% alcohol and 22% Benzol.

don't know the blend but the captured P-38 Lightning the Italians flew only lasted a few days as the petrol was low octane & ruined the engines. Italian aircraft were designed to operate on this lower octane fuel. Italian aircraft design of the time is very interesting due to the many non-standard ways they did things.

afaik WW2 italian combat aircraft used 87 octane fuel, the CR-32 was the exception but was old at time.
take in the count that most of wartime new fuel was german
