I don't actually think it's anything special, just a normal contrail, illuminated by the low sun, in an already dramatically lit sky. What appears to be curving to earth I think is just the aircraft in a turn, with the camera angle causing an illusion.
Of course, I could be wrong ..... we may not be alone ........ (cue music from 'The Outer Limits').
