Hi Dave,
>One version of the Ju-288 bomber used a pair of DB610 engines (i.e. 2 x DB605 engines coupled together). Did Junkers ever consider a Ju-88/Ju-188/Ju-288/Ju-388/Ju-488 powered by 4 single DB605 engines?
As for as I know, not for the Ju 288 at least. The DB 610 was a sound engine, it had been the poor installation in the He 177 that has caused the problems, and a recent Flugzeug Classic article on the Ju 288 pointed out that Junkers specifically tapped the experience from the Heinkel installation and avoided the problems in their design. Thus there was no need for a DB 605 installation of single engines - the twin-DB 610 setup was actually a four-DB 605 setup after all.
