Ok heres the scoop.

We met at TVR (Tallulah-Vicksburg Regional in Louisiana) 2 T-6's and our family friends Mustang flew tight formation to a Baton Rouge Airport. There we met up with a third T-6, and a P-40 that was purchased and restored from a museum (took 10 years in Lafayette). We met up with the Sons of Guns crew and they took video of the meeting where we set up how we would approach the Kidd and negotiate the "dive runs" (5 in total) and we had a missing man run where a T-6 peeled off as we flew over the Kidd. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures, I am very fortunate to be in the position I am in, and I hope I can bring some of the fun to you guys! Thanks to all who have contributed information for my ventures in acquiring T-6 maintenance repair manuals so I have the ability to study the specific aircraft I am spending the majority of the time working on to get my A&P license.

Hope everyone has a great 4th!!8)

I took many more pictures than this, so if there is a particular shot someone wants, I can see if I have it.

Also, if anyone has any requests on any type of shot in a T-6, Mustang, Aerostar, SX300 swearengine, Waco, GreatLakes, or stearman. Let me know, I can arrange to get someone some good shots. Have a great 4th!

I think I would have a heart-attack if I looked up in the sky and saw that formation flying overhead!!! Great pics!!

The owner of this mustang is Dan Fordice, and negative, he has never owned a trojan. I think that stang on the tail is remnants of a squadron ? I have seen it on several mustangs, and the mustang my father owned from 99-2002 had some unique symbols like this--to which I was informed they were squadron markings. Not sure if this is true.

Sorry couldn't be of more help,

Whit

The horse on the tail is a squadron marking. I beleive the 55th fighter group for a while flew with a red horse on the rudder. Great shots there Whit. If I remember right there was also a black horse but dont rember what squadron or group it was.

Did alittle more research into it. Looks like the 55th fighter group 343rd fight squadron used a mustang silhouette appear on a number of P-51's in late 1944 varying in color and horse shape on both the rudder and the tail next to the rudder. Hope this helps.
