Rather than put this thread with the Warbird Displays (Why ?, well allthough taken at Duxford with the other hangar displays and museums, there aint no arplanes !) I thought I'd place it in this section

Mods, happy to have it moved to another section if required

Ok, here is a huge set of pics from the Land Warfare museum on the crowdline at Duxford airfield. I say crowdline because during any air display, the bank around this museum is locally known as the Tank Bank and it gives you...if you get there early enough !!!....an elevated position for taking pics of the air displays.

Inside is a veritable treasure trove of AFV stuff. Ranging from the miniscule Goliath (radio controlled anti -tank.... errrrrrr ....tank !), through Monty's personal staff car, Stug 3, Sherman, Tiger, 88CM Flack and a whole host of smaller (and bigger) artilllery guns. Without looking at the upsatirs gallery of photo's and memorabilia, you can meander around this museum in around an hour giving plenty of time to take in all the items on display. Some of the set scenes are very well built with for once, life-like manequins in realistic settings.

Heres the first set of 20 pics. Hopefully some of these may of use to you Military modellers out there ?, matbe even give some ideas for future diorama's ?

Next batch. As you can see there are bits of equipment from WW1 right through to the present day.

Nice selection Gary. I see they've stuffed the Tiger in the shoe shop, instead of the Stug or whatever was there a few years ago. Nice displays.

I love the detail that is put into each display. They just do not place a vehicle or artillery piece behind a rope, each item on display is placed in a period correct scene, and all the figures in each scene are dressed in very authentic looking clothing. Great Stuff. That must be one hell of a museum. Think my favorite pic is the very last one. Gives you a feel for what some soldiers faced. I'd hate to be hiding on the inside a blown down house, with a Russian tank and crew a few feet away from me.

I believe the 'Tiger' is one built from a T34 for the movie 'Saving Private Ryan'. It might be fake, but it's convincing, and I think better inside the wrecked buidling, where the size difference isn't as noticeable, and forming a central part of a good, full sized diorama.

That's really excellent! I'm pretty impressed by the amount of Soviet hardware they have.

Every time I looks through these pics I notice more and more detail. Empty milk boxes underneath the jeep in the 3rd pic from the bottle. Amazing at the amount of detail that has gone into each display.

I see that soviet soldier jumping off the tank has "appopriated" a German Machine Pistol! Awesome detail, I have got to see this place first hand!
