In my castle....
F*ck it! I might just as well jump the bandwagon before someone else steals the thunder from me...

Username: Lucky13
First name: Jan
Category: 2 – Intermediate*
Scale: 1/48
Manufacturer: Airfix
Model Type: English Electric Lightning
Additions: Aftermarket decals from Model Alliance 48171, which has this machine lettered M, which we all know is the 13'th letter in the alphabet and possibly a different cockpit than the one coming with the kit itself.

*I take it that I'll have to move up a step using a aftermarket cockpit, right?

Good on'ya Jan, nostalgia is linked with this choice, Wattisham was my first posting after training way back in 61 and 111 Sqn had just converted to Lightning along with 56 Sqn, they both shared the same apron along with 41 Sqn who managed to keep the Javelins flying. 111 Sqn also had a couple of 'Black Arrow' hunters on the flight line to play with. As I said, nostalgic and a great choice mate.

Cheers lads, appreciated! Probably will be a wee while before I start on this one, a tad strapped for cash after the holiday! Need to get decals and decide what to do with the cockpit.... Resin or Eduards pre painted stuff, with a new ejection seat.

Top pic is Quickboost's coming seat for the Lightning...

Nice on Jan. That seat looks like it has more straps and buckles than a bondage convention

Wonder if that wasn't where Terry was going this weekend....

True mate! Kinda stuck as what to do with the kit cockpit....resin or Eduard pre painted.

Nice one Jan, and about time too! Great to see a classic Cold War bird. That Quickboost seat looks rather good old boy. BTW, you don't have to move categories, but could be an idea.

Much obliged guys! Anyhoo..... How many here knew, that in the summer of '65, Mk. 3's from Treble One Squadron successfully intercepted a Lakenheath based, very highflying U-2? 8)

Needless to say, the USAF was not impressed! ;)
