Hello, I am looking for advice on which regiment my grandfather may have been in during WW2. I can't find anything on his service during my research, I have photographs of him in Malta and Italy and a portrait showing part of his uniform(attached), I was told years ago that he repaired aircraft during the war (although I have no idea if this is correct), I don't even know what this role may have been called, if I can find out the title of this job role it may be a start for me so if any of you good people can share your knowledge I would be grateful.

Welcome to the site.

However I'm afraid , the pic may be not enough to work out his job role. I would suggest attaching the other images you have. Perhaps there can be found more info in them. Do you have anything more?

Well I would like to see more pictures if possible. In second picture although the guys are wearing forage caps (possible RAF) enlarging the pic as big as I could I was not quite about to decipher the arm badges.

Not too much can be found. But I've enlarged two details seen in the pics that may be helpful. The badge on the sleeve of his battle-dress indicated the Leading Aircraftman rank. The rank was a junior rank between the aircraftman and senior aircraftman. IMHO your grandfather was an air mechanic and could be a member of a maintence crew.

Thank you for your reply, these are very small photographs, I am going to scan them at as high a resolution as possible but it may still not be enough to decipher anything.

Thank you, i'll post the higher resolution scans on here as soon as I have done them.

A few more of the photographs I have, some of them are no more than a couple of inches in size so I've scanned them as best I can, thanks again to everybody for your help.
