Saw this on Wiki (yeah, I know) but was intrigued.

"In April 1945, Thomas flew in a normally single-person P-51 Mustang over Berlin while it was being attacked by the Soviet Union, reporting live via radio. "

Anyone have any info about this? Date, group, pilot. I listened to a him a lot being broadcast out of WJR in Detroit growing up and this sparked my curiosity.

Yeah... it's a slow day at work.

I've tried copying some Bill Mauldin cartoons. You don't realize what a master he was until you get down in the details of his technique. I'm doing that at my desk, I have no idea what conditions some of those cartoons were drawn under.

I was reading where Adm. Turner was saying how the Japanese suicide attacks were ineffective and that they were pretty much shrugging them off.

Talk about pablum for the masses, but I can agree with his reasoning in telling the press that.
That reminds me of the hush-up regarding the incendiary ballon bombs the Japanese sent over to the U.S. No mention of them in the press so as not to give the enemy any clues to the effectiveness of these weapons.

OK, so two minutes of googling: Spokane Daily Chronicle - Google News Archive Search

Seems it was around April 25, 1945 in a 67th Recon Grp P-51.
Hard to say if it was possible. No possibility of 85 gal tank in two seater. If departure was from England - Berlin and back to England not possible. If from forward Belgium/France base, then 'doable'.
