M-1 Helmet Manufacture Date?

Does anyone know of good web-sites that will help me put a date of manufacture of an M-1 Helmet I purchase off from an auction site several years ago. Googled and found some, but nothing too definitive.
Auction stated that it was of 1944 vintage, but I want to verify. I had brought it to a local shop that buys and sells this type of stuff, but he seemed very rude and dis-interested and I really did not think he knew what he was talking about, or he was just trying to low-ball me on purchasing the item.

Anyway, just trying to figure out what vintage helmet I have.
