You will find they are friendly, down to earth people. English speaking.
Narrow streets, crowded but mannerly traffic, scenic harbour views, lovely old buildings, plenty of good eating places. The food is great and similar to Italian style.
Yes, it's well worth a visit, there's a lot of history there.
