How many man hours to make a 323?

would you rather haver 300 C-47s or 100 ME-323s?

.

100 Me-323's for sure. But the Me-323 I suspect is more than 3 times as expensive to produce.

Pretty amazing that it often carried over 18 tons (39,683 lbs !) of cargo from Europe to Africa..

Are there any records of how effective ME-323 gunners were? How many attributed kills via allied records?

.

The protection on the Me-323 was very good, but like every single other other bombers transport a/c of the war, without escorts its just a sitting duck for enemy fighters.

Yes.. I realize that... but one wonders how many pilots thought they had an easy kill only to be chewed up by defensive fire....

It's safe to say they shot down more aircraft then the C-47 did!

Some more interesting pictures of this excellent a/c:

Thanks Leonard, and welcome to the chicken coop, mate!

That's really interesting what you said, I'll remember those details when building the interior. I'll have to keep my eyes open for that programme too if they put it out on DVD (We don't have Cable TV).

Micdrow sent me a great pic of the wing under construction when I posted my question again under 'Messerschmitt Me 323'- check it out!

Thanks again to you too B17 and Soren, those are great pictures!

Incidently, would do you guys reckon would look better coming out of a 323 in 1:72 scale? I'm thinking either an SdKfz 7/1 towing an 88 mm Flak gun, or maybe a nice self-propelled gun of some description. (Shame the Nashorn was too heavy -24 tonne, max. cargo weight for a Gigant 22 tonne- Revell do a beautiful kit of it)

Two Marder III's coming out would look cool, but so would a Sd.Kfz. 7 towing an FH-18.

An Opel Blitz Omnibus a small warewagon would look massive.

I keep getting 'fortinet' blocking access to those youTubes, Soren (I always have that problem trying to see YouTube things on this forum), but thanks for posting anyway.

An Opel Blitz..I like the sound of that, although an Sd.Kfz.7 towing an 88 would look meaner... Is the FH-18 the proper name for the 8,8 cm Flak 18 or are they different kanone?
