Hi new guy here, here's my story! I was born in Tunisia back in the 1950's,my mom and dad were French colonists there, first arriving in 1947, my dad would get in his Jeep and scour the Sahara desert for abandoned German aircraft and take stuff, like guns and memento's etc, well I have this emblem and have been researching it and find it to be rarer then hens teeth! its from a Messerschmitt fighter , the Germans abandoned all their equipment there, not much German artifacts left like this due to the allies making them destroy all war birds etc, basically he was searching where Patton and Rommel had the duel in the desert. He found planes Tanks lots of stuff, you can imagine!
The Daimler-Benz engine DB600 series started in 1937? to 1945, I believe this one I have is a early version, less HP,later had progressively more, here's some pictures of engine emblem or plate and an actual picture of the planes in the Sahara, what do you guys think something like this is worth or where can I go with this thing? I contacted MB international and waiting on a response. Thanks all!

The badge was common to most if not all Daimler Benz engines (certainly 600 up to 605). I've no idea what it would be worth but why would it be so rare?
Cheers
Steve

These engine plates are indeed not very common. BMW has a similar plate for their engines...at least for the 801. On Ebay these 109 plates sometimes come up for auction and are sold between 200 and 400 dollar.

Very nice DB 605 engine Shield. The engine number 78855 looks correct and would be an engine built at the Genshagen works in July 1942. They are rare in this condition and with my dating, I would not sell for less than Euro 1,000.
